At least 7 children have lost their lives while taking a bath in ponds in two separate incidents in the Aurangabad district of Bihar during Jivitputrika festival celebrations. Four children died in Madanpur, while three drowned in Barun area, according to an official release. CM Nitish Kumar has announced an ex-gratia of ₹4 lakh for the families of the deceased.
