The Centre requested all states to declare snakebites as a notifiable disease, which will make it mandatory for all health centres to report such cases and deaths, PTI reported. In a letter to all the states and Union Territories, health secretary PS Srivastava termed snakebites a "public health concern" and noted that farmers and tribal populations are at higher risk.
