Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram asked the Centre to explain the IMF's 'C' grade to India's national accounts statistics. In response, BJP's IT head Amit Malviya called Chidambaram's "lament" a "masterclass in selective amnesia and political desperation". "The rating has not changed...it has been C for years...The primary reason is the technical issue of the 2011-12 base year," Malviya said.
