If a person completely gives up salt for a month, they may initially experience decrease in water retention and temporary drop in blood pressure, said nutritionist Dr Sweta Bose. "Over time, taste buds become more sensitive to subtle flavours," said Bose, adding that a complete lack of salt can lead to nausea, electrolyte imbalances, affecting muscle function and nerve transmission.
