Scientists have extracted ice around six million years old from Antarctica's Allan Hills, containing the oldest air ever recovered. Formed in blue-ice zones where wind and sublimation expose ancient layers, the ice holds microscopic bubbles preserving past atmospheres. Using argon dating and oxygen isotope analysis, researchers found that Antarctica has cooled by about 12°C over millions of years.
