A study, published in Scientific Reports, has found that Africa's forests have switched from being a carbon sink to a carbon source. This shift took place between 2010 and 2017 as the continent lost billion kilograms of forest biomass annually, researchers said. "Our findings underline the urgent need for implementing policies to halt global deforestation," the study stated.
