A study in Proceedings of the Royal Society B revealed that female vampire bats adjust their calls to match close companions, much like human accents. Researchers analysed nearly 700,000 ultrasonic calls from 95 bats, finding stronger vocal matching among bonded, food-sharing pairs. They also added that bats changed calls when living with new companions.
