Discussing 2022 attack on him, author Salman Rushdie said it occurred to him that he was dying. "The gash [in my neck] was so deep, it had to be held together with metal staples," he stated. Salman said this at trial of his alleged attacker, Hadi Matar. Matar is accused of stabbing Rushdie about 10 times with a 6-inch blade.
