Scientists have confirmed that while tarantula bites may appear alarming, their venom is too weak to kill humans. The venom of most species, particularly those found in North America or kept as pets, causes only mild pain, redness, and swelling similar to a bee sting. Serious reactions usually arise from allergic responses rather than the venom itself, researchers stated.
