A doctor on duty, Vipin, at a Kerala government hospital was attacked by a father, Sanoop, after his daughter died from brain-eating amoeba in August. According to reports, Sanoop, who had alleged medical negligence by the doctors who treated her, came to the hospital with a hatchet and assaulted the doctor. Kerala government medical officers' association condemned the attack.
