Surekha Yadav, Asia’s first woman loco pilot, is set to retire from Indian Railways on September 30 after a 36-year career. Born in Maharashtra's Satara, Surekha completed a diploma in electrical engineering before joining the Railways in 1989. She started as an assistant driver and later became a goods train operator in 1996 and a motorwoman in 2000.
