Scientists observed ring formation around a small icy celestial body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, called Chiron. The rings are made mainly of water ice mixed with small amounts of rocky material, like those of Saturn, said Chrystian Luciano Pereira, lead author of the study. Chiron exhibits comet-like activity by ejecting gas and dust into space.
