Veteran space scientist Professor Eknath Vasant Chitnis, who was among the pioneers of India's space programme, passed away at the age of 100 in Pune on Wednesday. Chitnis was known to be the right-hand man of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the father of India's space program. Chitnis led the team which discovered Thumba site in Thiruvananthapuram for satellite launch.
