As Diwali sales hit record high this year with sales of ₹5.40 lakh crore in goods and ₹65,000 crore in services, CAIT said grocery and FMCG contributed to 12% overall sales. This was followed by gold and jewellery (10%), electronics (8%), consumer durables (7%), readymade garments (7%), home decor and furniture (5%), textiles and fabrics (4%) among other things.
