The central government implemented four Labour Codes, pending since 2020, replacing 29 older laws. Under these new codes, Provident Fund (PF) benefits have been extended to fixed-term, contract and temporary workers. Meanwhile fixed-term employees can now claim gratuity after one year, compared to five years earlier. There will be uniform PF framework across states, reducing compliance confusion.
