Meta has moved National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), challenging a recent CCI order imposing a ₹213-crore penalty on the firm related to WhatsApp's 2021 privacy policy update. Meta argued that the order could have broad implications for the entire tech industry. In November 2024, CCI ordered WhatsApp to not share data for advertisements with Meta companies for five years.
