Israeli military said it would issue 54,000 call-up notices to ultra-Orthodox Jewish seminary students amid the ongoing war in Gaza. These students were earlier exempt from military service but have now been mandated to be conscripted following a ruling by the Supreme Court, amid pressure from reservists. Military service is compulsory for most Israeli Jews from the age of 18.
