Preliminary investigation into the Kurnool bus fire, which killed at least 20 people, revealed that Volvo sleeper bus (registration no. DD01N9490) was originally registered in Daman and Diu in August 2018, as per reports. It added that its registration was transferred to Odisha's Rayagada RTO in April 2025, less than six months before accident. The bus also had ₹23,000 challans.
