Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in prison over illegal campaign financing from late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. The 70-year-old was found guilty of criminally conspiring from 2005-2007 to finance his campaign with funds from Libya in exchange for diplomatic favours. Sarkozy allegedly promised to help Gaddafi combat his reputation with Western countries.
