Russian President Vladimir Putin said Ukraine's EU membership is a "legitimate choice" and that Moscow never opposed it, during recent talks with Slovak PM Robert Fico in China. While supporting Ukraine's EU aspirations, Putin reiterated opposition to NATO expansion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed the recognition and the EU Commission has also welcomed Putin's statement.
