Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruitment scam in July 2022. CBI opposed the bail, calling him "mastermind" of the scam. "The recruitment racket was carried out under Chatterjee's instructions," CBI said and alleged releasing him on bail could risk evidence tampering and influencing witnesses.
