A caste panchayat in Maharashtra allegedly ordered the social boycott of a woman's family "for seven generations" for being unable to pay ₹2.5 lakh fine issued over her father-in-law's love marriage. The council had apparently also threatened to kill the family if they informed the police. A case has been filed against nine members of the caste panchayat.
