The US government led by President Donald Trump may lose over 100,000 federal workers with Congress facing a deadline of Tuesday to authorise more funding or trigger a government shutdown. The White House has also ordered federal agencies to make plans for large-scale firings of workers if the dispute over spending plans fails to yield a deal.
