Election Commission told the Supreme Court that mandating regular Special Intensive Revisions (SIRs) of electoral rolls would "encroach upon its exclusive jurisdiction". The poll body maintained that the superintendence, direction, and control of electoral roll preparation rests solely with them (Article 324 of the Constitution). EC can also decide the type of revision—summary or intensive.
