Congress' Jairam Ramesh said Ladakh is extremely important for India and "the Government of India should fulfil legitimate aspirations of people of Ladakh at the earliest." Ramesh's comments came after four people were killed in police firing during protests for statehood in Ladakh's capital, Leh. He added that "land and employment rights of people in Ladakh are in serious danger."
