The Assam government has decided to relax its two-child policy for indigenous communities, including tribal groups, tea garden workers, and Moran and Mottock communities. "If we restrict their population, they may cease to exist after 50 years," CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The state's 2017 population control policy barred people with over two kids from government jobs and panchayat elections.
