After China objected to Dalai Lama's decision that only Gaden Phodrang Trust will identify his successor, ruling out China's role in selection, India backed his decision. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "No one has the right to interfere or decide who the successor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be. Only he or the institution has the authority."
