The International Weightlifting Federation has scrapped Olympic silver medal-winning Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu's weight category ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. The 31-year-old had won her medal in the women's 49kg category in Tokyo. She will now have to move up to the 53kg class, the lowest available for women. Notably, Chanu had earlier competed in the 55kg category.
