Chikoosa Nayaka, working as a waterman at Honganuru Gram Panchayat in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district, died by suicide after allegedly not getting salary for 27 months and facing mental harassment by local officials. The police has registered a case under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Panchayat Development Officer, the Gram Panchayat president, and her husband.
