The Centre has appointed Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar as the new chairperson of the National Commission for Women. Formerly BJP Mahila Morcha chief and head of Maharashtra's Women's Commission, her appointment will last three years or until she turns 65. Rahatkar, currently BJP National Secretary, has held various roles in the party ever since she joined BJP in 1995.
