Chinese President Xi Jinping joked about spying on South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung while gifting him smartphones. The exchange happened when Lee, after getting the smartphones, asked Xi if the "communication line was secure". "You should check if there is a backdoor," Xi replied, referencing to possibility of secret monitoring software. South Korean President then laughed on Xi's comments.
