The BMC has intensified its drive to remove abandoned vehicles, known as “khataras,” from Mumbai roads and footpaths. Over 20,000 such vehicles will be identified using RTO data. Owners will be given 48-hour notices before the vehicles are towed and scrapped or auctioned. The operation aims to ease congestion and reclaim public spaces.
