US President Donald Trump, who raised fee for H-1B visas to ₹88 lakh per year, said abuse of the programme is a "national security threat". He stated that the programme was created to bring temporary workers into US to perform high-skilled functions but it has been used to replace Americans with lower-paid, lower skilled labour.
