The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has doubled the registration renewal fee for vehicles older than 20 years to discourage their use. The fee for light motor vehicles has been raised from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, while for motorcycles it has increased from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. Meanwhile, for three-wheelers and quadricycles, the renewal cost has increased from ₹3,500 to ₹5,000.
