'The Kerala Story' director Sudipto Sen took to Instagram to criticise Filmfare Awards of being "fake tapestry in name of cinema." He wrote, "Filmfare's truly an exposé of Indian "nouvelle vague". A blatant plagiarised film...which didn't survive...72 hours at box office...took most crowns." He added, "I'm happy we're saved from hobnobbing with this tamasha in name of cinema in Mumbai."
