Tamil Nadu’s Drugs Control Department has found toxic diethylene glycol (DEG) in a syrup manufactured by a Kanchipuram-based firm, Sresan Pharmaceuticals, that caused the death of at least 10 children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The department ordered an immediate halt of cough syrup's production. This comes after the centre said no toxic contaminants were found in those cough syrups.
