The Supreme Court has observed that temple money belongs to the deity and cannot be used to rescue cooperative banks. "This money has to be saved, protected and utilised only for the interests of the temple...it can't become a source of...survival for a cooperative bank," CJi Surya Kant said. He directed cooperative banks to return money to the Kerala temple.
