Russia's northwestern republic of Karelia is offering cash reward of 100,000 rubles (around ₹81,634) to women students below 25 for giving birth to healthy babies, local media reports said. Around 11 regional governments in Russia are reportedly paying female students for giving birth. This came after Russia recorded its lowest birth rate in 25 years during first half of 2024.
