Rural poverty in India dipped below 5% for the first time to stand at an estimated 4.86% in FY24, according to a report by SBI Research. The decline from 7.2% in FY23 was driven by higher consumption growth and significant government support. Urban poverty also declined to 4.09% in FY24 from 4.6% in FY23.
