BP's Chief Economist Spencer Dale expects India's oil consumption to surpass that of all countries by 2050. India's oil demand is projected to jump from 5.4 million barrels per day (bpd) today to 9.1 million bpd by 2050. Natural gas consumption is also expected to nearly double from 63 billion cubic metres (bcm) to 153 bcm over the same period.
