Agatha Christie's debut novel 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' is believed to have been inspired by a murder that occurred in India's Mussoorie in 1911. An Englishwoman was found dead in a room locked from the inside at hotel Savoy, with a post-mortem revealing she was poisoned. Ruskin Bond had also drawn a connection between the two in his essays.
