Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while speaking at the farewell ceremony of MiG-21 fighter jets at Chandigarh Air Force Station, clarified that the jets currently being decommissioned were just 40 years old. "The jets inducted in the 1960s and 70s have long been retired from service," he clarified. "A 40-year lifetime for such fighter jets is completely normal," he added.
