Sharing phone numbers with retailers for loyalty points or e-receipts can lead to data misuse, News18 reported. Sudden spam messages, calls from unknown brands or delivery updates for orders the person didn’t place often signal misuse. If receipts or loyalty updates appear from outlets the person never visited, it indicates the data has been pooled, sold or accessed without consent.
