Researchers at the University of California San Diego found that human stem cells exhibit accelerated ageing after weeks on the International Space Station. The cells also lost some of their ability to make healthy new cells and became more prone to DNA damage. Lead study author Catriona Jamieson said understanding these changes helps model diseases like cancer on Earth.
