A lawyer in Chandigarh wrote an application to the police seeking their permission to beat his neighbour, alleging that he deliberately scratched his new SUV, causing a loss of ₹1 lakh. Stating that police didn't file a case on his complaint, the lawyer claimed that if police don't take any action, he can beat the neighbour under BNS Section 35(b).
