Germany's parliament has approved a voluntary military service for 18-year-olds as Russia-Ukraine war continues. Young adults will receive a questionnaire from January 2026 asking if they want to join military. Germany's Defence Minister said this will ensure that, in the event of an attack, Germany doesn't lose time deciding "who is operationally capable as a homeland protector and who isn't."
