A study has discovered that humans can detect objects buried in sand without touching them. Participants were instructed to move their fingers through sand to locate a hidden cube, without touching it. They could locate the object with considerable accuracy. Researchers said this 'remote touch' ability mirrors Shorebirds like sandpipers, which detect prey beneath sand by sensing subtle vibrations.
