Nvidia-backed US startup Starcloud plans to build four-kilometre-long data centres in space to reduce their operating costs and environmental impacts. The five-GW centres can use vacuum of space as an infinite heat sink, skipping the need of fresh water for cooling, and can use uninterrupted and unlimited solar energy, avoiding batteries. Starcloud expects space-based centres to be 10x cheaper.
