A study by insurtech firm Plum revealed that 71% employees in India bore healthcare costs themselves in 2023, with average cost of a health check-up being ₹1,500. It found that median sum insured offered by Indian employers is ₹3 lakh while 60% firms offer new-age insurance, which includes same-sex partner coverage. Under 50% companies offer maternity benefits, the study stated.
