US President Donald Trump's additional 25% penalty tariffs on Indian exports to the country took effect at 9:31 am (IST) on Wednesday, August 27. With this, the total tariffs imposed on Indian exports by the US has hit 50%. Some automobiles or auto parts, iron, steel, aluminium, copper and its products, pharmaceuticals and electronics are exempted from the penalty tariffs.
